In the continuation of UET’s Centennial Gala, Literacy Society University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, organized “34th All Pakistan Poetic Symposium (Mehfil-e-Mushaira)”. In this event many renowned poets across the country participated and presented their poetry in attractive and unique style for the enjoyment of the audience.

In honor of UET’s 100-year anniversary, in the centennial gala we conducted the 1st UET Inter Departmental Declamation Competition. The event consisted of several modules from ranging from CSS and public speaking workshops to speeches on beggary and the all-important declamation contest.

Chancellor/Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar along with Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Registrar UET Muhammad Asif and Deans of all faculties inaugurated a commemorative plaque on the 100th anniversary of UET Lahore at Main Block on 15th Day of November 2021.

Welcome to UET

Historic Profile

The University of Engineering and Technology (main) is located in the northern part of Lahore on the historical “Grand Trunk Road (G.T. Road)”, near the magnificent Shalimar Gardens built during the great Mughal Empire.

The institution started its career in 1921 as the ‘ Mughalpura Technical College’. Later it became the ‘Maclagan Engineering College’, a name given to it in 1923 when Sir Edwards Maclagan, the then Governor of Punjab laid the foundation stone of the main building, now called the Main Block, which still retains its majesty despite the wear and tear of over eight decades. At that stage, the institution offered courses of study in only two disciplines; Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

In the year 1932, the institution was affiliated with the University of Punjab for the award of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. In 1947, at the time of independence, the Institution was offering a well-established B.Sc. Degree Courses in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering.
